Membership
Joining the HGSGA provides you with a host of opportunities to play golf and develop new friendships. Members must be at least 50 years old and have an established handicap at Hobbits Glen Golf Club. The Hobbits Glen staff will assist you in setting up your handicap. If your CA membership includes 7 day golf or 5 day golf, you will not have to pay a fee for your handicap registration. If you have another type of CA membership, there will be an annual fee. You also may want to consider buying an Ace Card that includes handicap registration, discounted cart fees and an allotment of practice balls.
You will have to enter a number of scores before an actual handicap is established. You are welcome to play in HGSGA Thursday league events while you are establishing your handicap, but you will not be able to compete for prizes until your handicap is set.
Members have the opportunity to participate in approximately 65 events beginning the first Thursday in April and ending the last Thursday in October. About half of these events are regular Thursday morning league golf. We have a medal play championship series, a match play tournament, and a variety of formats that you will find enjoyable. The remaining events are away and home events sponsored by the Maryland Interclub Senior Golf Association (MISGA). MISGAs offer a great opportunity to play some of the most beautiful courses in Maryland at a very reasonable price ($45 to $55 - green fees, cart, and lunch).
We encourage members to send in their membership application and their $50 dues in January and February. Early registration allows our volunteers to better prepare for the upcoming season.
